– MRUDNEWS -In a pivotal move to boost cross-border connectivity, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, H.E. Farzaneh Sadegh, announced plans to finalize and inaugurate the Kalaleh-Aghband border bridge by February 2026. The decision was made during her visit to the construction site of the bridge, located in Azerbaijan’s border territory.
According to the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the construction project is now targeted for completion by November 2025, enabling the bridge to be operational by February 2026. Minister Sadegh stressed the importance of this infrastructure in facilitating trade and transit between Iran and Azerbaijan.
Additionally, plans are underway for the temporary operation of the border terminal on Iranian territory, with a full-scale launch expected by next year. Both heavy and light vehicle traffic across the bridge is set to begin by the end of 2025.
Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, accompanied Minister Sadegh during the visit, underscoring the collaborative efforts between the two nations to expedite the project’s completion. This development marks a significant step in enhancing regional transportation and economic integration.
